NEW HOME FOR IMPORTANT LILLY KAREDADA ARTWORK

In a rare move by a museum, the successful bid for the Lilly Mindindil Karedada ‘Wandinjina' Figure went to Art Gallery Queensland for the Leonard Joel Aboriginal & Oceanic Art Auction on Monday 21 July 2008.

Says Lachlan Burnet, Aboriginal Art Specialist, "This early Lilly Karedada, viewed at the Art gallery NSW in 1991, is a very powerful and important piece indeed.  For the viewing public this type of work is best managed by institutional hands and its new home is highly appropriate."
